Availability of Our Stock

We have approximately 2,000 pairs of shoes available in our stock.  While we cannot guarantee that every shoe will be available “in stock” in every heel height, fabric color and width, we can order it for you or you can give us your preferences and we can advise you of what is immediately available.

Cushioning

We believe it is of primary importance that dancers’ shoes afford as much protection from shock and stress as possible.  The “double” poron cushioning used in our American Classic Dance Shoes is the same cushioning used in runner’s shoes.   American Classic shoes can be made with extra cushioning if so desired (see American Classic Options).

Custom Stoning

We will custom stone your shoes for you using our designs or yours for a labor fee plus the cost of stones.  Or you can do it yourself by purchasing the stones at the following prices.  Prices are subject to market fluctuation.  (A gross is 144 pieces.)

Size 12        $17.00/gross Aurora Borealis

Size 16        $21.00/gross Aurora Borealis

Fitting and Size Availability:

Our stock is based upon American sizing.  Although we carry shoes from the U.S, China, and England to name a few, we still adjust the size to reflect an appropriate American shoe size.  We carry women’s sizes from 3 through 12.5 including half sizes (widths from X-Narrow to X-Wide. Our men’s styles are available from 6 thru 15 including half sizes, widths from Narrow to X-Wide.  We also offer boys and girls dance shoes. Although we carry all of the sizes and widths in our inventory, they are not available in every style or from every manufacturer.  Wider widths (than those listed above) in both men’s and ladies may also be ordered from some of our manufacturer’s for an additional $20.  In addition one of our manufacturers, offer what is known as a combination last or in other words, a medium ball of foot with a narrow heel, etc.   In fact there are so many enhancements to a shoe that we can do that if we haven’t addressed it here, please call or email us.

Recommendations for individual shoes are generally noted on each product page.  Although we can’t guarantee the fit and comfort of a shoe due to personal preferences and variances of feet, the following are some recommendations for getting a proper fit:

Dance shoes should always fit snug so you can maintain proper balance on the dance floor.  We suggest that you buy your shoes “snug like a glove”, although not pinching, to allow the shoe to stretch to your foot.  You should also try to avoid buying shoes that are so long that they allow a gap in your heel, although sometimes it is necessary to purchase a heel wrap to accommodate a narrow heel.  If your toes slip in the upper, invest in a halter pad or innersoles.

Ladies Straps and Snaps

Manufacturers offer different types of closures.  Standard buckles, plain quick release hooks, Rhinestone Quick Release Hooks or snaps for easy on and off to name a few.  To adjust the snap buckles, simply make a hump in the center of the buckle and slide in either direction to lengthen or shorten the strap.  If there is too much strap at the end of the buckle, cut at a slight angle, angling towards the floor.  This will improve the appearance.  Allow at least ¾” after the buckle.  Unless the shoe is a standard buckle, there is no need to re-stitch the ends since it is not being fed through the buckle!

Methods of Payment

We accept checks, cash, American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa.  There is a $30.00 fee for returned checks.  Additionally, all accounts which are past due (including returned checks) are subject to late charges at a rate of 1-1/2% per month (18% per year.)  Accounts over 90 days will be sent to a collection agency and any additional fees associated with collection will be passed on to the debtor.

Patent Leather Care

Patent leather shoes should be treated regularly with a silicone polish (see accessories) to prevent shoes from “sticking” when they touch.  The polish also helps keep leather shoes soft and supple.
