Return via the same route, or continue down to Red Mountain Pass and make a long loop back to town via Ouray. We took a guided tour from Telluride over Ophir and back by Black Bear Pass. On the way into Telluride you will get great views of Black Bear Pass and Bridal Falls. Trail appears to be recently graded making it very loose and rocky. Ophir Pass is a great first-timers trail. Difficult to get up on Motocross or ADV bikes. Ophir Pass is a great first-timers trail. Other than that it's a great trail, saw lots of hikers towards the bottom near Telluride. The trail winds through forested land in the Middle Mineral Creek area until it reaches the tree line and continues to the rocky summit at 11,789 feet.
