Lots of areas to pull off etc... but only a few dedicated spots that I would consider a real site. The landscape is mostly aspen in a narrow valley.

Crested Butte is tucked in the mountainous and forested western part of Colorado. There are 29 moderate trails in Crested Butte ranging from 1.3 to 28.7 miles and from 8,766 to 12,516 feet above sea level. Creekside trails and forested campsites available with restrooms, tables and barbeques. Hikers can set out into the stunning Maroon Bells-Snowmass or Raggeds wilderness areas.

Unfortunately most of the spots were taken by "squatters" - those who setup they're stuff and then leave town (basically to hold the spot for the maximum 14 days) - saw 6 different campsites setup this way and never saw a person, car or any activity at any of them (ok I'll get off my soapbox now).
