2 day hiking trails

It is easily the hardest I’ve ever done, much harder than the Chilkoot Trail, and worth attempting. Grand Manan in New Brunswick has a great 41 km hike, mostly along the coast with some spectacular scenery. You forgot La Traversée de Charlevoix in Québec! I’ve done an overnight on the wilderness bluff, there are no official campsites but many locations where you can pitch a tent. A spectacular trail for experienced hikers to try especially at the peak of fall colours. The hike offers beautiful coastal scenery, complete with numerous 200 metre high red cliffs, sheltered coves and remnant old growth forest. To the south, the Persimmon Range can be traversed for over 30 km. Having said that, I’d like to put in a vote for the Rockwall Trail, located in Kootenay National Park.

I hope it happens. Moose or elk tracks are common in the lower shrubby meadows. @Linda I definitely should have included that one.

Chez Monique’s near Carmanah point sells AWESOME burgers for $20. Its pièce de résistance is Silver Peak which rises above Georgian Bay, Lake Huron.

The map shows it as ranging between 8000 and 9000 feet. It’s a 6 hour ride over some rough logging roads, but it’s way better than trying to convince your brother-in-law to come and pick you up. Since the 2-day Inca Trail only requires one full day of walking, I think it’s a good option for people who are relatively fit but don’t want to commit to the longer treks out there. Who knew? @Gaston They are actually trails I have never heard of – glad you took the time to comment and let me know about them.

Wildlife: Bears of multiple persuasions and hue are common. The highlight is the spectacular view from the top over Cache Lake, but the trail winds through the forest, past huge rock cliffs, along the lakeshore, and down an old railway bed. Check it out! There are over 300 kilometres of additional side trails. I’ve been held up by forest fires, heavy rain causing flooding and land slides, flooding from beaver activity, heat waves, surprise blizzards at altitude, or often in remote areas the trail isn’t marked proper or has grown over so you either get lost awhile or you compass your way out which obviously slows you down often by days. Our sons are 18 & 19 years old and experienced backpackers so they did fine. The other two hikes are new to me. There are wobbly ladders. The round-trip for this hike-and-bike trip takes about three hours. Any rail trail is a non starter for me so I promise some good scenery on these hikes. There are countless day hikes as well with the beauty of short driving distances between them. The Telegraph Trail follows an historic telegraph line for 100 kilometres (62 miles) between Quesnel and Hazelton. Most of the camp sites are on the beach near creeks. The ruins are fenced off and almost non-existent to the untrained eye. Minimal parking though so you have to go early. Well marked trail with nice scenery. If you can, load the GPS with satellite photos of the terrain. We hiked started the west side of the loop. I know all this because I’ve solo hiked from St .Johns Nl to Victoria BC then up to Dawson City on the Trans Canada Trail which was 20,100kms. Keji I agree is better for canoeing & kayaking but the other two you mention are new. Saskatchewan offers lots of hiking in the provincial and national parks. Whether you want to go deep into the mountains or stay closer to home, the places to go are numerous; many state and national parks offer broad networks for trails, as does national forest land. Driving its 2860kms but if your networking trails part way you could easily add a few hundred kms. The road was built during World War II to reach oil fields. Trails range from easy, flat walks along boardwalks to more difficult routes that climb over ridges to outstanding lookouts. The Mizzy Lake trailhead is located off Highway 60, east of the Hardwood Lookout trail. The Lookout Trail, at kilometer 39.7 on Highway 60, is a two-kilometer hike up to a beautiful lookout point that can be particularly inspiring when the fall colors are peaking. It takes you along the Fundy shore from the Fundy Trail Parkway near Big Salmon River to Fundy National Park. Read: Hut to Hut Hiking on the Charlevoix Traversé. The mines are very interesting! you’ll also get heat rash and moisture rash which causes much discomfort and can lead to broken skin and infection. In Quebec le sentier des Navigateurs, le sentier des Outaouais, le sentier des Sanctuaires, le Tour de l’Ile d’Orleans, le chemin des Vignobles, le chemin du lac Rémi. Howe Sound Crest Trail.

On our previous trip, he showed no concern. In the spring, you can often see moose and other animals along the roadside or trails. It runs from Nels Bight in Cape Scott Provincial Park to Shushartie Bay. But unless on a ridge or pass it is rare to not cross water at least once an hour. This 1.5-kilometer trail is an easy walk that the whole family can enjoy. The suggested time for this trail is six hours, but most hikers can complete it in 4.5 to five hours. A couple to add in Manitoba: the Epinette Creek trail system- about 40km in Spruce Woods Provincial Park and in Riding Mountain National Park you could easily hike for a week in the west part of the park and likely not see a soul. Maybe they’ve just done a better job of publicizing them. The Thames Valley Trail is a 110 kilometre (68 mile) hiking trail along the Thames River Valley from London to St. Mary’s. Numerous access points allow day long or weekend trips. There’s a 105 km hut to hut hiking trail near Baie St. Paul called the Traversé de Charlevoix. The uphill sections, particularly in the so-called ‘Hansen Township Section’ of the trial are pretty challenging. You can grab a great seafood meal for $25-$30 before you catch the ferry across the narrows. The trail leads through forest; past beaver formed lakes, some of which is crossed on a boardwalk; and up and over rock ridges that provide good lookout points along the hike. Total time for this trail is about 30 minutes, although the park recommends one hour. Paulette’s Cove (if it’s still open) was kind of cool though a little flat on top. Great trail - if I’m being honest I would say it’s largely an easy trail. It’s broken into 18 sections and each section can be accessed for a day hike. Almost all of the national parks have extensive trail systems with many multi-day backpacking trips possible, though only a few of those are mentioned. Phone died before completing trail, so lesson learned: this app consumes a lot of power! I’ve also seen wolf and cougar tracks. Lots of great lookouts - Arab Lake, Doe Lake, and lots of bogs. This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. It’s meant to be shared so assume you’ll run into cyclists. There is enough hunting they tend to be shy of people, but tracks are common. Saw 3 deer and one large porcupine. Total time for this trail is about one hour. This hike is rated difficult by the park but this is largely due to the fact that it has a considerable amount of elevation.

The view extends out over a forest of mainly deciduous trees, rolling hills, and a small lake in the distance. How about the 85k or so La Cloche Silhouette trail at Killarney Provincial Park in Ontario? It’s easy to follow and flat. Determine the trail you want to tackle with our list of the best hikes in Algonquin Park. @Dana What great advice and what a treat to have someone of your calibre leave such a thoughtful comment. You have forgotten the gorgeous Cape Chignecto Loop in Nova Scotia. @Jennifer I have hiked Mt Assiniboine and agree it’s a great hike.

I have only once met people more than 1 day from the entrance in maybe 50 days total time in the park. Wildhay ridge, north of the river of the same name puts you above treeline for about 20 km. @Sherwood Now this is what I call a great comment. It is 98% coastal hiking with a lot of variation. The Jack Pine Trail is a 1.6-kilometer trail that leaves from the Achray Campground and leads to a lookout over Grand Lake, where the actual jack pine, long since dead, once stood. Hiking Great! Most of these big pines are located near the start of the trail, which is hiked in a counter-clockwise direction. Leave early in the morning because this hike will likely take longer than you expect. Chances are much better in the spring and fall, but they can be seen at any time. The Sunshine Coast Trail in the Powell River area takes you 180 kilometres (112 miles) from the Desolation Sound area in the north to Saltery Bay in the south.

I hope my readers see this.

If you averaged 25kms every day it would take you 120 days that’s four months. Spruce Bog Boardwalk | Photo Copyright: Lana Law. NEITHER set is complete or correct.
